What we build
Custom Balloon Arches for Charlotte Celebrations
Nothing changes the feel of a room, a front door or a backyard faster than an arch guests have to walk under.
Think of a balloon arch as a frame for the moment. It curves over whatever matters most that day (the cake, the couple, the graduate, the door everyone walks through) and pulls every eye and every camera toward it. It reads from the back of a ballroom, it looks right in phone photos, and it costs a fraction of what the same impact would cost in fresh flowers or draping.
We start with your party, not a template. Tell us the colors, the spot and how much room you really have, and we work out the size, the shape and the balloon mix: tiny 5-inch fillers, everyday 11-inch balloons, oversized 18- and 24-inch statement pieces, plus chrome, pearl or foil where they earn their place. On the day, we bring it, build it on-site and come back for it after.
Our arches go up for first birthdays and 50th birthdays, baby showers and gender reveals, bridal showers and wedding receptions, graduations, quinceañeras, church celebrations, office parties and ribbon cuttings. Anywhere in Charlotte, NC with a doorway, a head table or a corner that needs a photo spot is a good home for one.
Arch styles
Balloon Arch Styles We Build
Pick the shape first. Every arch below can be built in your colors and at your size.
Organic balloon arches
Organic means mixed balloon sizes grouped in loose, uneven clusters, with no repeating pattern. The result looks lush and relaxed, almost like it grew there, and it's the style behind most of the arches people screenshot and send us. It takes greenery and florals beautifully and suits showers, weddings and milestone birthdays. Because it packs more balloons into every foot, it sits a little higher on the price list.
Classic and spiral balloon arches
A classic arch stacks tight four-balloon clusters along the frame, every one the same size. Rotate the colors cluster by cluster and the arch twists into a spiral in two, three or four colors. It's tidy, sturdy and perfect for school colors, team colors and logo colors, so it still shows up at senior nights, sports banquets, Panthers watch parties and company events.
Round, circle and hoop arches
A circle arch (you'll also hear ring, hoop or round arch) wraps balloons around a circular frame, either the whole way or just part of it. A full ring frames a person standing inside it. A partial ring leaves open space in the middle for a name panel or a sign. Circle arches are a favorite for sweet 16s, proposals and any party where the photo spot is the point.
Square and backdrop arches
A square arch follows a rectangular frame, usually around a backdrop panel, a flower wall or a shimmer wall. It turns the cake table into a little stage with clean edges for pictures. When you want the arch and the backdrop designed as one piece, our balloon backdrops page covers the combinations.
Half and asymmetrical arches
A half arch (people also call it a swag, a swoop or a demi arch) climbs one side of a door, backdrop or table and ends somewhere over the middle. It's the current designer look, and since it uses fewer balloons than a full arch, it's also one of the easiest ways to get a big result on a modest budget.
Double arches
Two arches layered together, either nested one inside the other or set one behind the other, give a design real depth. We suggest a double arch for wedding ceremonies, stage entrances and big rooms like gyms and ballrooms, where a single arch can look small once the guests arrive.
Mini and tabletop arches
A tabletop arch is a small arch, roughly 4 to 6 feet across, that sits over a cake table, a gift table, a dessert spread or a sweetheart table. It's the right size for apartments in South End, restaurant private rooms and baby showers in a living room, anywhere you want the look without giving up floor space.
Entrance and doorway arches
An entrance arch tells everyone where the party starts. We build them over front doors, porch steps, garage doors, clubhouse doors and shop entrances. Outdoor arches are weighted and tied off, because summer thunderstorms around Charlotte tend to arrive with a sudden gust front. Add balloon columns on both sides for a complete entrance.
Large and giant balloon arches
Large arches start around 16 feet and cover double doors, stages and driveways. Giant arches for store openings, school events and festivals can stretch 25 to 40 feet and lean on jumbo 24- and 36-inch balloons. At that scale the arch is planned around the site like any other custom balloon installation.
Balloon arches with flowers and greenery
Silk or fresh florals, eucalyptus, pampas and trailing greenery tucked between the clusters soften an arch and make it feel garden-ready. Floral arches are what we suggest for bridal showers, baptisms, Mother's Day brunches and spring parties on a screened porch.

Sizing
Balloon Arch Sizes: How Big Should Your Arch Be?
Grab a tape measure before you pick a size. An undersized arch disappears in photos, and an oversized one crowds the door.
| Arch size | Fits | Approx. balloons |
|---|---|---|
| 4–6 ft mini or tabletop | Cake, gift and dessert tables | 60–110 organic |
| 6.5–7 ft frame arch | Photo corners, a single door, small backdrops | 90–130 organic |
| 10–12 ft arch | Front doors, porch steps, 8 ft backdrops | 150–220 organic, 60–75 classic |
| 16–20 ft arch | Double doors, stages, 10 ft backdrops | 240–360 organic, 100–130 classic |
| 25 ft and longer | Store openings, gyms, outdoor entrances | Planned per site |
Arch length is the distance traced along the curve, which is longer than the footprint on the floor. A 16–20 ft arch usually stands 8 to 9 ft tall and 8 to 10 ft wide. Balloon counts change with balloon sizes and how full you want it.
How many balloons go into a balloon arch? Plan on about 5 or 6 balloons per foot for a classic arch of 11-inch balloons, and about 12 to 18 per foot for an organic arch that layers 5-, 11- and 18-inch sizes. That puts a 6 ft organic arch at roughly 70 to 110 balloons and a 20 ft organic arch at roughly 240 to 360. A 50-balloon kit covers a half arch or a tabletop arch, not a full doorway.
Pricing
How Much Does a Balloon Arch Cost in Charlotte?
Most full-size arches we build fall between $250 and $550. These are our starting prices and the things that move them.
| Arch | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Mini or tabletop arch (4–6 ft) | $195 |
| Frame arch with organic garland (6.5–7 ft) | $235 |
| Doorway arch (10–12 ft) | $315 |
| Themed welcome arch with foil accents | $345 |
| Full balloon arch (16–20 ft) | $425 |
| Double, giant and 25 ft+ arches | Custom quote |
Delivery, setup and pickup are included in our core Charlotte service area. Drives of 40+ miles add a travel fee starting at $50.
What raises or lowers the price of an arch:
- Length and density. More feet and tighter clusters take more balloons and more hands.
- Style. An organic design simply needs more balloons in each foot than a spiral or classic one.
- The balloon mix. Chrome, pearl, double-stuffed custom shades and jumbo balloons from 18 to 36 inches all cost more than everyday latex.
- Extras. Florals, greenery, foil shapes, vinyl names, light-up marquee letters and backdrop panels.
- How it stands. Most quotes include a freestanding frame. Rigging an arch to a venue's own structure takes extra labor.
- Distance and timing. A drive from Mooresville down to Waxhaw, a 7 AM install or a tight hotel load-in window all count.
- Teardown. We can come back for everything, or you can keep the balloons and skip pickup.

Baby shower and gender reveal arches
Soft pastels or warm neutrals for showers and sprinkles, and pink-and-blue gender reveal arches with a big reveal balloon or a hidden-color moment built in.

Your options
Balloon Arch Rental, Full Installation or a DIY Kit?
There's more than one way to get an arch into your party. Here's how the options stack up.
| Option | What's included | Makes sense when |
|---|---|---|
| Full installation | Design, delivery, on-site build and pickup | The arch is the centerpiece and you'd rather not be on a ladder that morning |
| Balloon arch rental | A ready-made frame arch dropped off and collected later | Smaller arches, photo corners, simple setups |
| Grab-and-go garland | A finished garland you collect and hang | Short runs over a table or wall, tight budgets |
| DIY kit | Loose balloons, a tape strip and glue dots | Small arches, a free afternoon and a patient helper |
Can you make a balloon arch yourself? A small kit arch, yes, if you have a pump and an afternoon. A full organic arch is a different job: a pro crew spends one to three hours on-site, while first-timers often spend four to eight, plus a run back to the store. Balloons inflated too early or with the wrong pump pop, sag and go cloudy. Craft and party stores sell kits and loose balloons, but they don't come out and build the arch for you. If the arch is the backdrop for every photo of the day, it's usually worth handing it off.
Charlotte weather
Outdoor Balloon Arches in Charlotte Heat, Storms and Pollen
An arch can absolutely go outside here. It just needs a plan for the season.
Charlotte summers run close to 90 degrees with sticky humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms roll through on a lot of July and August days, often with a strong gust front ahead of the rain. Direct sun is the bigger problem for latex: heat swells the air inside until balloons burst, UV turns the surface cloudy within hours, and dark shades like navy and black heat up fastest. Early April brings its own surprise, when pine pollen coats everything outdoors in yellow dust, and it shows on dark balloons. Fall is the easiest outdoor season of the year.
- Find the shade. Screened porches, covered decks, tents and the shady side of the house all buy an outdoor arch hours.
- Build late. For summer afternoon parties we schedule the build near start time instead of at breakfast.
- Fill with air. Everything we put outside is air-filled and frame-supported. Helium balloons in July heat give up fast.
- Go lighter outside. Whites, pastels and metallics handle sun far better than black or deep navy.
- Anchor it. Weighted bases and tie-offs keep an arch in place when a storm front or a breeze off Lake Norman kicks up.
- Keep a backup spot. Light rain won't hurt latex. Lightning or strong wind means moving the arch under cover, so we plan where it goes.
Longevity
How Long Does a Balloon Arch Last?
Air-filled and indoors, you'll get several days. Outside in a Charlotte July, count on the length of the party.
| Setup | How long it looks good |
|---|---|
| Air-filled, inside with air conditioning | Several days, frequently a week or longer |
| Air-filled, outside in shade (spring or fall) | All day and often into the next |
| Air-filled, outside in full summer sun | A few hours before fading and popping |
| Helium arches and helium bouquets | Hours, unless treated to float longer |
How long do balloons last? Air-filled latex indoors keeps its shape for days; foil lasts longer; helium latex starts dropping within hours. Will my arch still look good after four days? Inside and air-filled, yes, which is why we can build the night before a morning shower and why multi-day events keep their arches indoors. Can you set up the night before? Indoors, gladly. Outdoors between June and September, the arch goes up the same day.

Questions
Balloon Arches in Charlotte: FAQ
What does it cost for a balloon arch?
Here, a tabletop arch starts at $195, a framed photo-spot arch around 7 feet tall at $235, and a full-size 16–20 ft arch at $425, delivered and set up. The final number depends on size, style, balloon count, extras and drive time.
How long do balloons last on an arch?
Air-filled and indoors, an arch stays full for days, frequently a week or longer in a cooled room. Outside in the shade you'll get about a day, and under a Charlotte summer sun only a few hours. Helium-filled versions start sinking within hours unless the balloons get a float treatment.
How many balloons does a balloon arch take?
Count on roughly a dozen to 18 per foot in organic style, or 5 to 6 per foot in classic style. So a 6-foot organic arch lands near 70–110 balloons, and a 20-foot one near 240–360.
Is a balloon arch the same as a balloon garland?
Not quite. The garland is the bendable strand of balloon clusters. An arch is that strand (or a run of classic clusters) mounted on a frame or anchors so it curves over something on its own. Every organic arch starts as a garland, but a garland can also hang flat on a wall, mantel or table.
Do balloon arches need helium?
Usually not. A frame does the lifting, so nearly every arch we build is filled with plain air, which also makes it cheaper and longer-lasting. We only reach for helium on floating designs and bouquets, which look their best for hours, not days.
Can a balloon arch go outside in Charlotte?
Yes. Outdoor arches are air-filled, weighted, tied off and placed in shade when possible. In summer we build close to start time, because full sun and 90-degree heat pop and fade latex within hours.
How far in advance should I book a balloon arch?
Two to four weeks is comfortable. Book earlier for graduation weekends in late May and June, Halloween and December weekends, and spring and fall wedding Saturdays. Short-notice dates are worth asking about.
Can you set up a balloon arch the night before?
For indoor events, yes. An air-filled arch built the evening before looks the same the next morning. Outdoor arches are built on the day of the party.
Do you deliver and set up the arch?
Yes, that's the standard service: we drive it out, build it where it'll stand and come back for it when you're done. Prefer to do it yourself? A ready-made frame arch or a grab-and-go garland is an option.
Can I buy a balloon arch from a craft or party store instead?
You can buy kits and loose balloons there, and a small kit arch is a fair weekend project. Stores don't design, deliver or build a full arch on-site, which is the part that takes skill and hours.
What if someone at the party has a latex allergy?
Tell us when you ask for a quote and we'll design it latex-free. Foil balloons can carry an entire arch, wall or backdrop, and plenty of schools, hospitals and workplaces only allow foil anyway.
Should I tip the balloon decorator?
Tipping is up to you. Many hosts tip the crew 10–15% for a large or very early install, and a written review helps a local business just as much.
Tell us the date. We'll build the balloon arches.
Send your date, venue and colors and get a written quote with a design plan. Free, and no obligation.
